Our babies are natural born learners from the moment they arrive in our family. Their beautiful brains are firing and wiring together as they journey through the experiential adventure of childhood. Their life experiences shape their brains through everything they THINK, FEEL, DO and EXPERIENCE.
They are incredibly dependent on us for a surprisingly long time but not perhaps in the way we think. And certainly don’t need to be as learners. In fact it is our adult brains (with our old school thinking) that far too often gets in their way! Think about it...
A parent who struggles with old school thinking may relax about their children’s learning on weekends or school holidays but start stressing and panicking they are not doing enough come Monday morning.
EVEN if they home educate! When it comes to their child’s formal education old school parents fixate on external markers of success.
